Clearance Items
The "Clearance Items" section mostly contains signed photographs of "less fashionable" celebrities. However, with many items at less than a tenner, fans of collectibles and memorabilia may find some excellent buys in this "bargain basement."
For example, collectors of memorabilia associated with BBC children's magazine programme, "Blue Peter," may be interested in signed photographs of long-serving presenters John Noakes and Valerie Singleton, together with later short-term presenter Mark Curry. Collectors of general children's TV memorabilia may also wish to include a signed photo of John Craven, the original presenter of "Newsround."
Continuing with the TV theme, soap opera fans can pick up some inexpensive collectibles. These include signed photographs of Jean Alexander and Julie Goodyear respectively the erstwhile Hilda Ogden and Bet Lynch of "Coronation Street" and Sue Nicholls who currently plays Audrey Roberts in the same show. Other signed collectibles include photographs of former Spandau Ballet star, Martin Kemp who became one of Britain's best-known actors with his portrayal of villain Steve Owen in "EastEnders" and Michael Starke who played Thomas "Sinbad" Sweeney in "Brookside" for 16 years.
For collectors of sports memorabilia, a number of signed photograph collectibles are offered at knock-down prices. For footie fans these include former West Brom and Coventry City star, Cyrille Regis, former England skipper Terry Butcher and current Manchester City goalkeeping maestro, Shay Given.
Athletic fans might like a signed card of triple jumper, Jonathan Edwards, a former Olympic, Commonwealth, European and World champion, who has held the world record since 1995. Jason Gardener, former sprinter / Olympic gold medallist and Steve Cram, former Commonwealth, European and World champion at 1500m and Olympic silver medallist, may also prove popular choices.
Amongst the large quantity of stage and screen memorabilia and collectibles, a 10" x 8" signed photo of actress Dora Bryan looks a bargain, retailing at more than twice the price elsewhere.
