Gold Discs, Record Signed - Letter N
The selection of gold discs and records covers various musical genres and should provide for most tastes, despite the limited range on offer in the "N" sub-category.
British singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield has achieved considerable success, in her relatively short career, with her combination of pop, soul and R&B. She commenced her musical career in the 1990s as part of Christian dance / electronic trio, "The DNA Algorithm" with siblings Daniel Bedingfield and Nikola Rachelle. Up to mid-2008, Bedingfield had received 11 award nominations (including 4 BRIT nominations and a GRAMMY nomination), winning awards from BT Digital Music, Capital FM, "Glamour" magazine, MTV Europe and TMF. Amongst the signed gold records displays on offer is one featuring her debut album, "Unwritten." The album, released in the UK in September 2004, featured up-tempo pop songs with some R&B influence. It topped the UK Albums Chart in 2004 and was moderately successful in Australia, Austria, Germany, Mexico and Switzerland. "Unwritten" was not released in the USA until August 2005, where it peaked at no. 26 in the Billboard 200. The album received gold certification (500,000+ sales) from the Recording Industry Association of America in March 2006 and continued to be an international success with worldwide sales in excess of two and a quarter million copies.
Other displays of gold discs and signed gold records on offer include "Year of the Gentleman," by American pop / R&B singer-songwriter, Shaffer Chimere Smith, better known by his stage name, Ne-Yo. His third album, released in September 2008, was a commercial success, reaching no. 1 in the US Billboard Top R&B / Hip-Hop Albums Charts and getting as high as no.2 in both the US Billboard 200 and UK Albums Charts.
Also featured is "Feels Like Home," by American jazz / country / folk singer-songwriter Norah Jones, which topped the US Billboard 200 and achieved multi-platinum status in both the US and UK.
