Gold Discs, Record Signed - Letter Q

These attractive signed gold records displays include a CD gold disc / record, along with a signed photograph of the band or artist. The "Q" sub-category has plenty of scope for expansion, but there are several artists and albums worthy of future inclusion, subject to availability.

British rock band, Queen, was formed in London in 1971 and became one of the all-time most successful musical acts, with a plethora of gold discs to their name. Any of their signed gold records featuring the autograph of the now deceased former leader singer, Freddie Mercury, would be eminently collectible and much sought after by enthusiasts.

However, there are other, less obvious, bands and artists who have released one or more gold discs.

"Amplified," the debut album of American hip-hop artist, Q-Tip, from Queens, New York City, was released in November 1999. It entered the US Billboard 200 at no. 28, having sold some 90,000 copies in its first week. It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in January 2000.

American rapper, actress and singer, Dana Elaine Owens, is better known by her stage name, Queen Latifah. Her 5th studio album, "The Dana Owens Album," was released in September 2004. In stark contrast to previous hip-hop / R&B albums, this album displays superb jazz vocal presentation. Her most successful album to date, it reached no. 16 in the US Billboard 200, was awarded gold certification by the RIAA and nominated for "Best Jazz Vocal Album" Grammy Award in 2005.

Californian hard rock band, Queens of the Stone Age, was formed in 1997. Their 3rd album, "Songs for the Deaf," was released in August 2002. It is widely regarded as their best work. The album reached no. 4 in the UK Album Charts, no. 17 in the US Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA at the start of 2003.
