American pop singer Christina María Aguilera, rose to chart prominence in 1999 with her self titled debut album. A former child star and Mickey Mouse Club alumni (the same Disney Channel television show that helped to launch the careers of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake), to date she is one of the most successful recording artists of the previous decade, with worldwide album sales of over 42 million and several gold records to her name. 'Fighter' and 'The Voice Within,' both taken from her sophomore album 'Stripped,' were hits in her native country and worldwide - peaking at no. 20 and no. 33 respectively in the Billboard 200.
Finnish metal group Children of Bodom, formed in Espoo in 1993, their name an allusion to the infamous unsolved Lake Bodom murders. In their most current incarnation (Alexi Laiho, Roope Latvala, Janne Wirman, Henkka Seppälä and Jaska Raatikainen) they have released six studio albums, all of which have cracked the top 20 (and top 10) in their home country, as well as racking up critical acclaim and several gold discs. 'In Your Face' was taken from the group's 2005 release 'Are You Dead Yet?' which shot straight to the top of the Finnish album charts (also making the top 20 in Sweden, Germany and Japan).
The computer animated character and ring tone phenomenon known as the Crazy Frog spawned several novelty singles and enjoyed worldwide chart success for a brief period between 2005 and 2009.
