A vast range of displays featuring legendary British rock band, Queen, unsurprisingly dominates the "Q" sub-category. Queen memorabilia has become particularly collectible since the death of iconic lead singer, Freddie Mercury, from A.I.D.S. related bronchial pneumonia in November 1991.
Any of the band's albums featuring Mercury's vocals are likely to be highly sought after by devotees. Amongst these, possibly the most collectible, is the 1995 release, "Made in Heaven," the last Queen album to feature Mercury. The album entered the UK Albums Charts at no. 1, where it remained for 25 weeks and reached no. 58 in the US - achieving 4x platinum and gold certification, respectively. Collectors may also find memorabilia from the post-Mercury era of interest. This includes "The Cosmos Rocks," a 2008 album, featuring Paul Rodgers, former lead singer of Free and Bad Company. Although not well received by critics, it was reasonably successful, reaching no. 5 in the UK Albums Charts and no. 47 in the US Billboard 200.
Also included are displays featuring Californian rockers Queens of the Stone Age. Their 2002 album, "Songs for the Deaf," was critically acclaimed and is generally considered their best work. Reaching no. 4 in the UK Albums Charts and no. 17 in the US Billboard 200, it gained the band their first gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Other gold discs and gold records displays that may attract the attention of memorabilia enthusiasts include "Amplified," the 1999 debut album of American hip-hop artist, Q-Tip. The album reached no. 58 in the US Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA early the following year.
