The gold discs and signed gold record displays offered are of the highest quality, despite their realistic prices. Although the content of the "E" sub-category is limited, it features some highly collectible items.
English singer-songwriter, Sir Elton Hercules John, CBE, Kt, has amassed worldwide record sales in excess of 250 million, in a career spanning 6 decades. One of the most successful recording artists of all-time, his many achievements include 7 consecutive US no. 1 Albums. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and knighted in 1998. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine rated him no. 49 in its list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All-Time." Elton John signed gold records and memorabilia are particularly collectible and his featured album, "Rocket Man – The Definitive Hits," looks a winner with collectors. It is a compilation album, featuring 13 no.1 one singles, along with bonus tracks and live renditions. Released in March 2007, as a celebration of the artist's 60th birthday, it entered the UK Album Charts at no.2. The album entered the US Billboard 200 at no. 9, with 50,000 US sales and remained in the chart for 7 months. In February 2010, the album was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry for sales exceeding 300,000 copies.
Another of the extremely collectible gold discs is "Eric Clapton and the Yardbirds." Fans of guitar maestro "Slowhand" Clapton seem sure to be delighted by this display featuring the 2006 compilation album, with the CD cover personally hand-signed by the man himself.
Potential future additions to this sub-category may include albums by artists such as the Eagles, Electric Light Orchestra, Eminem, Enigma, Enya, Erasure and Gloria Estefan, each with several gold (or better) certified records to their name.
