Gold Discs, Record Signed

Along with a Certificate of Authenticity for autographs, each display item bears a metal plaque, with the legend "GOLD DISC DISPLAY, signed by the artist/s, in recognition of sales of over 500,000 albums worldwide. The gold records displays currently on offer in the "I" sub-category are limited, but there is plenty of scope for the inclusion of further albums.

Warrington's Ian Brown is best known as the former frontman of alternative rock band, The Stone Roses. Since their 1996 split, Brown has enjoyed a successful solo career. His 2nd solo album, 1999 release "Golden Greats" is not a compilation, despite its title. Described by New Musical Express magazine as, "a left-field masterpiece and Brown's best work for a decade," "Golden Greats" peaked at no .14 in the UK Album Charts and was awarded gold certification by the British Phonographic Industry.

There are numerous gold discs and signed gold records worthy of consideration for inclusion in the sub-category.

Australian rock band, INXS, were formed in 1977 and achieved notable international success in the 80s and 90s, producing several gold discs. Originally renowned for their new wave / ska style, they subsequently developed a harder rock style incorporating elements of funk and dance. Any of their signed gold records bearing the signature of original lead vocalist, Michael Hutchence, who fronted the band for 20 years and died in 1997, is extremely collectible. Their 1987 album, "Kick," topped the Australian Charts, peaked at no. 9 in the UK Album Charts and reached no. 3 in the USA, being awarded 6-times platinum status by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1997.

Californian rock band Incubus have several gold (or better) certified albums to their name. These include the 2004 release, "A Crow Left of the Murder…," which peaked at no.2 in the US Billboard 200 and received platinum certification from the RIAA.
