Gold Discs, Record Signed - Letter W

The selection of gold discs and signed gold records covers various musical genres and should provide for all tastes. Whilst the content of the "W" sub-category is sparse, there are plenty of candidates for future inclusion.

Stevland Hardaway Judkins, better known by stage name Stevie Wonder, is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, who has enjoyed over 5 decades of phenomenal worldwide commercial success, with a string of gold discs to his name. Wonder has received 25 Grammy awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award and any of the superstar's signed gold records are likely to be highly sought after by collectors. Of these, his 1976 release, "Songs in the Key of Life" is likely to prove particularly popular. Released during his "classic" period, this double album became one of the most critically acclaimed and successful of Wonder's career. It topped the US Billboard 200, reached no.2 in the UK Album Charts and performed well in Austria, Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden. "Rolling Stone" magazine had "Songs in the Key of Life" ranked at no.56 in their 2003 list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All-time." The album was eventually awarded diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Also likely to prove popular is his 1980 release, "Hotter Than July." This album was successful in the UK, reaching no. 2 in the UK Albums Charts, along with reaching no. 3 in the US Billboard 200 and topping the US R&B Albums Charts for 13 weeks. It was awarded platinum certification by the RIAA in 1981.

Other worthwhile inclusions may be offerings from award-winning Texan country music singer-songwriter, Lee Ann Womack. Particular popular is likely to be her 2000-released album, "I Hope You Dance," the title track of which was her only country no.1, whilst 4 other tracks reached the country top 40. The album was certified 3x platinum by the RIAA in May 2002.
