Award-winning American singer Jennifer Lopez, often nicknamed J.Lo, has enjoyed great worldwide success; with albums encompassing pop, R&B and hip-hop. She has several gold discs that fans are likely to be interested in, including the 2001 release, 'J.Lo.' With sales in excess of a quarter of a million in its first week, this album topped the US Billboard 200 and reached no. 2 in the UK Albums Charts. It was awarded 4x platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and platinum status by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), with worldwide sales exceeding eight million copies. Another of her gold records on offer is the 2002 released 'remix' album, 'J to tha L-O!' Although less of a commercial success, the album still sold over three million copies worldwide, topped the US Billboard 200 and achieved platinum status in both the UK and USA.
American rapper, Jeffrey Atkins, better known as Ja Rule, is another artist who has won several awards. Amongst these gold discs displays are his 'Pain is Love' and 'R.U.L.E' albums. The former, released in 2001, reached no. 3 in the UK Albums Charts (achieving platinum certification from the BPI) and topped both the US Billboard 200 and US R&B Charts; receiving 3x platinum certification from the RIAA. 'R.U.L.E,' a 2004 release was less successful, reaching only no. 33 in the UK Albums Charts and no.7 in the Billboard 200. Nonetheless, it still received silver certification from the BPI (60,000+ sales) and gold certification from the RIAA.
