Gold Discs, Record Ltd. Edition, Photo Displays

The limited edition displays of gold discs, gold records and photographs in the "V" sub-category may tend to be a little limited, though there is plenty of scope for expansion, both in terms of artists and musical genres.

Californian heavy metal band, Van Halen, have enjoyed massive commercial success since their formation in 1972, with worldwide album sales of some 80 million (up to 2007). The Recording Industry Association of America rank Van Halen as 19th in the all-time best-selling list, with in excess of 55 million US album sales, with 2 albums ["Van Halen" and "1984 ( MCMLXXXIV")] each selling over 10 million copies. Fans of this highly successful outfit seem sure to be delighted by the display featuring their 2004 greatest hits album, "The Best of Both Worlds." Although only a limited success in the UK, peaking at no. 15 in the Albums Charts, in was a great success in the United States, reaching no. 3 in the Billboard 200 and being awarded platinum certification for 1 million+ sales.

Amsterdam-based Vengaboys enjoyed great success in the late 1990s, with "Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!" and "We're Going to Ibiza" topping the UK Singles Charts. With worldwide sales in excess of 15 million records, they are widely regarded as the most influential "Eurodance" group of the early 21st-century. Their debut international 1999 release, "The Party Album" seems likely to appeal to gold records collectors and looks a worthwhile future inclusion in this sub-category. It topped UK Album Charts and those of 20+ other countries, achieving dual-platinum certification in the UK and gold certification in the United States.

Other potential future inclusions may be gold discs by folk-inspired, American singer, Suzanne Vega. Her very popular 1987 release, "Solitude Standing" was particularly successful, peaking at no.2 in the UK Albums Charts and no. 11 in the US Billboard 200, achieving platinum certification in both countries.
